Summer State of Mind

POV: you just finished showering and you smell fresh – like citrus and musk. Now you’re getting ready for a slow brunch with your closest friends at a local cafe. Summer is here, and life is great. Let’s be real, summer is not just a season, but it’s also a state of mind. Summertime is associated with longer days, a lot of sunshine, and daydreaming about days on the beach. All of us want to look good and feel even better. The key to achieving that isn’t just about working out, drinking green juice, and having chia seeds; it’s about feeling energized and maintaining balance to really live your best summer life! As the weather gets warmer, we’ve rounded up a few key tips to keep in mind for your health and wellness and how to feel great on the inside, first.

Be Mindful of What You Put On, and In Your Body

Cleaning up your diet can help you make an immediate change to how you feel on the inside. This doesn’t mean a drastic detox or putting yourself on a juice cleanse. Rather, take a look at what you eat and start by reducing the number of processed foods. Cook your meals from scratch and treat your body to lots of fresh veggies and fruits in your diet. Eating right won’t just make your body feel better, it’ll help uplift your mood too!

Similarly, be mindful of what you’re putting on your body. Switch to light moisturizers, face spritz, facial tissues, and wipes that don’t dry your skin out, and don’t skip your SPF! While applying SPF is recommended all year round, it’s especially important to add it to your skin-care regime during summers.

Stay Hydrated

Another wellness tip that’s important all year round, but especially during the summer to keep your body energized. Make sure you’re drinking not just plenty of water, but also including fresh juices into your diet for that extra boost of energy and hydration. Summer is also a great time to experiment with delicious mocktails and cocktails if you want to treat yourselves to something fancier once in a while.

Flaunt Your Accessories – Protect Your Skin from Sun Damage

In our opinion, one of the easiest, most natural methods of sun care is to cover up and enjoy the sun mindfully. That means that if you’re going to be in the sun for an extended period of time, it’s best to wear a hat and cover up your shoulders, neck, arms, and any other part of your body that will take direct sunlight. Also try and opt for light, summer fabrics that allow your skin to breathe while still protecting you.

Keep Moving!

Feeling sluggish? Get moving! Our bodies are not designed to sit at a desk all day, after all. If you’re an outdoorsy person, join a running club if you enjoy being in a or start running or jogging on your own. If you’re an indoor person, indulge in some relaxing yoga or an at-home workout to start or end your day mindfully. If you’re wondering, what is the best exercise for you? The answer is one you can do consistently and would enjoy doing. Exercise is not just great to keep fit, but it is also a natural mood enhancer, so make sure to find your best fit!

Take Some Time to Simply Relax Yourself

Wellness isn’t just about doing things, sometimes it’s also about not doing anything. While you work towards incorporating the other tips into your routine, make sure to take some time out to just let yourself relax, and rejuvenate. Curl up with a book of your choice, go for a dip in the pool, or pick up an old or a new hobby like playing an instrument. The idea is to spend some time unwinding and doing what you love.

And that’s it. Summer is a great time to seize some positives – spending more time outside, feeling the sun, lingering over food with friends, and generally slowing the pace. It’s a great time to start fresh or simply switch up your routine to set the tone for the next few months. We hope these simple tips help you live your best summer life.
